I don't know if there's a reason why some are blessed, some not. Why the few you seemed to favor... They fear us, flee us, try not to see us...
God help the outcasts; the tattered, the torn. Seeking an answer to why they were born. The wheels of misfortune have blown them about... Aeval was curled up on Scarab's chest. It was nearly three in the morning, but the pair had only gone to sleep a few hours ago. Before, they had been up, counting money, assessing damages, and writing out supplies list for what the new guys would need. Money really wasn't an issue; the men had already stolen and hocked God knows how much money in goods. It was more of the budgeting for their supplies that was the issue. They had eventually gotten that all done, but by then it had been late; around midnight, to be exact. They had gone straight to bed, and Aeval had every intention of sleeping all the way through the night. That, however, was disrupted when her nose gave a little twitch. Someone had found their home. "Igs," she murmured, not bothering to open her eyes. Aeval gave a yawn, "Igs, get up. Someone's here."

Scarab had his bottom pair arms wrapped around Hellcat as she slept on his chest, like she normally did. His top pair was propped behind his head, and he was sleeping like a big, mutated baby.
"Igs, get up. Someone's here." Aeval stirred him, and he felt...strange. But he couldn't put his finger on it.
He went to stretch his main arms, but he couldn't feel them. His arms that were wrapped around Aeval stretched, and he realized she too felt...odd.He blinked, opening his eyes. He jumped, seeing a human curled up on his chest where Aeval usually was. "....The hell...?"

When Scarab jumped, Aeval, too, leapt, only she moved to jump off of his belly. Her body twisted and turned like it normally did to allow her to land on her feet - only now it felt odd. Her body didn't move quite right; her spine didn't twist just so. Instead of landing on her hands and feet, the woman's side collided with the ground.
She let out a yelp, and then a whimper. Her eyes fluttered open, even as she turned to force herself to sit up. That wasn't normal. That wasn't good. She wasn't supposed to fall on anything other than her hands and feet. And yet she had... Feline grace had let her down.
Aeval brushed a strand of hair out of her face, glancing up. Her eyes landed on the Mexican man sitting in Scarab's bed, the bed they shared; they widened.
"Oh my God... What the hell?"

He looked down at her, the human, not yet realizing that he was in fact, just another shirtless Mexican guy sitting on the bed. He crossed his arms against his chest, then realized...his skin felt...different. Not tough and leathery like usual. And he only had two arms.
He stared at the girl. "Ae--Aeval...? What's...something very malo is going on here, Amora. Something very very bad..." He didn't show it, especially not in front of her. But deep down, he was afraid. No, he was terrified.

Aeval stared at the man, letting her eyes roam over his body for just a moment. He was... he was damned good looking, and the fact that he was shirtless made her eyes linger just a little bit longer. But then she realized she was staring, and Aeval quickly glanced down at herself.
She was in her same clothes, which was a good thing, the girl thought as she stood. But everything else was different. Her hair was blonde; her arms no longer held their stripe markings. She was completely human - a fact that scared her beyond all belief.
"No," she murmured, glancing down at her legs. She twirled, trying to see if her tail was still there.
It wasn't.
"No. NoNoNo... This can't be happening."

"Aeval," he repeated, trying to comfort her. Okay, so they were human, but she...well she looked really good. After a while, he realized he was staring.
"Aeval, I don't know what's going on, Amora, but we'll get through it." He let his arms drop down by his sides as he thought.
Little did he know, downstairs there was another force, rooting through the hotel, though they kept the money well hidden so the intruders hadn't a chance of finding it. One of them was invisible, going through everything, but not making noise a human could hear. The other was hidden outside, using his powers to cancel out the powers of the other mutants inside, save for his partner.

Aeval hesitated, but only for a second.
She moved towards him, so she could sit on his lap. Her arm wrapped around his shoulder, and the small woman rested her head against his chest. It was supposed to be a move of comfort, one the cat-like side of her would have approved with, if it was still there; but even Aeval had to admit, it could have been taken differently.
"I want to know what's going on," she murmured, looking up at him. Aeval only prayed she didn't sound like she was pouting, "It's rather... odd being human. I've never been human in my life."
And it was true. She had been born a mutant freak, and had always thought she would die one as well. Never had she been given the chance to be a normal human woman. This was... different.

He shuddered as his arms wrapped around her. This was like she normally did, but as humans, it felt so different. But Ignacio was in no way complaining.
A hand gently ran through her hair, and up and down her back. He closed his eyes and thought, also enjoying the moment. "I do too. But I don't know what could possibly..." He ran through theories in his head.
"Well, my serum COULD have worn off, though it's in my blood, infused into me. And you were born with your gift, so it can't be that..." He grew silent as they sat there, still thinking this through.

Aeval closed her eyes, leaning into his touch. It felt... nice, different. Before, she hadn't really paid attention; it had always just been a comfort thing. A cat being petted. But now that the cat part of her was gone, it seemed to be less comfort and more distraction.
His words floated through her brain, triggering a sort of late reaction. Her grip tightened around him; her heart seemed to stop. There was a sort of pain in her eyes. If his mutation had worn off, then...
"You won't leave, will you?" She asked, looking over at him. His humanity could be permenant, but there was no way hers was. And, if she was to turn back and he remain as he was, then he might not want her anymore. She wouldn't be human.

He blinked, pulling far enough back to look into her eyes. His free hand rested on her face. "I call you Amora. Love. That's what you are. MY love. Through anything we may face. I don't know what this is, but it's obviously the same for both of us. Amora, I'm not leaving you. They'd have to pry you from my cold, lifeless, arms. And even then there's no chance in hell of separating us."
He looked deep into her eyes, kissing her forehead like he usually did. But this time, it gave him a much stronger feeling. He enjoyed it then, yes. But now it was more...intense. He just stared lovingly into her eyes.
Meanwhile, two intruders were looking for valuables, but of course, Scarab was a smart man. They'd find nothing.

At his words, Aeval relaxed slightly. She leaned into his touch, his grip, and sighed. "I love you," she murmured, reaching up to touch the side of his face. Her eyes softened, and she touched her lips to his briefly.
It sent a tingle down her spine.
For a moment, Aeval wanted to do it again, to lose herself in a kiss between them. She wanted to forget that she wasn't supposed to be like this (and that Scarab was), but knew she couldn't. They had to figure out what was going on - and fast.
"We need to look around," she murmured, licking her lips as she tried to focus. "Maybe... maybe something happened that turned us like this. Maybe some human or... something.."

That was...wow. He nodded. "Yeah, maybe we should..." he said, voice trailing off. That kiss had been...amazing. He knew they needed to figure this out, but it was possible this could go away as quickly as it happened.
"We know it had to have been something. It couldn't have just happened; that makes no sense. Whatever it is affects both of us." His eyes locked on her lips when she licked them.
"But I doubt we'll be this way forever. It may leave as soon as it came..." He leaned in and kissed her again, holding it for a moment.
Then, downstairs, the looter knocked over a lamp, which crashed to the floor and shattered. He turned invisible, continuing his looting as the leech dove under the sofa, powers still in effect.

He kissed her, and Aeval's eyes fluttered close. She placed her hands on his face, stroking his cheekbone lightly. She knew they may not have long like this, but Aeval was almost tempted to let them take every moment of it, and use it to their advantage.
But then something crashed.
The woman pulled away from him, hissing violently. Her lips pulled back into a snarl, but no fangs glimmered in the dim light. It was a sad thing, really; she wasn't all that intimidating without them. But still she snarled.
"We have company."

"Oh...right," he said, then muttered under his breath, "Dammit..." He gently picked her up and sat her on the bed so he could stand. He put on a pair of torn shorts and cracked his neck.
"I'll go give them a welcome they'll never forget." He went downstairs, looking around. But he saw nothing. No one. But he could hear footsteps in the kitchen. Running in there, it was empty. Then, a vase shattered across his head and he dropped. It didn't break the skin, but it hurt. It HURT...and Scarab was not used to pain. The invisible one had hit him over the head. To any bystander, it would have looked like it had been floating.
Scarab rose to his feet. "The fuck...?" Then he felt a punch from nowhere. He swung back, but his foe dodged, an advantage that came with being unseen.

She hurried down after him, her eyes searching for the source of the crash. She had every intention of trying to keep it peaceful; she knew how violent Scarab could get in situations like this. If it was just a regular, human thief, then she didn't want too much blood to be shed. Not now.
Upon reaching the main room, however, that thought went straight out the window when Scarab was attacked. A vase flew through the air, hitting him, and then he doubled over, as if hit. It made her snarl; the hair on her arms stood straight. This...was not good. Not good at all.
"Hey, you bastard!" Aeval called, grabbing up a nearby chair. She threw it at the area where the vase originated from; it was soon followed by a torn pillow. Hopefully, the feathers would catch whatever had thrown the vase. "Don't you know it's not polite to throw things when someone's back is turned?"
